Trip to Vietnam July 2023
My wife and I had an opportunity to visit Vietnam along with a group of 18 others. We had visited the northern section of Vietnam but this time we visited the southern portion and enjoyed the trip:
July 16th– left Jinan and flew to Shanghai for connecting flight to Vietnam. We actually spent most of the day in Shanghai since the plane did not depart until late night. We visited the “bond” area which is the harbor area as well as the financial district of China. It is quite similar to Wall street in New York.
July 17th- We arrived in Ho Chi Ming ( Saigon) . Here we visited the previous presidential palace which housed the “South Vietnamese ” government before the country was unified.

We also visited the old war museum that had been renamed after the USA and Vietnam developed diplomatic relations. Most of the museum demonstrated anti-war rallies in various countries throughout the world and in the USA.
July 17/18 We traveled to Dalat which is located up in the mountains. We visited several sites to include a Church and an old railway station. On a very sad note, on the way back down the mountain, one of the tour buses that was traveling with us had a deadly accident and four died and eight were admitted with life-threatening conditions.
July 19th We traveled to Fairy Island which is a series of beaches and a main beach for eating. We took a boat ride and visited 3 different beaches. We also visited a local interesting house design.
