WELCOME TO JINAN SHANDONG CHINA
Jinan is the capital of Shandong Province and has a rich history.
Jinan is appropriately named “the city of springs” because there are 72 springs located in Jinan. This is interesting because the city has just completed construction on two subway lines. The city is known for such sites as Baotou Springs and 1000 Buddha mountain and Da Ming Lake.
Jinan is located near Qufu which is considered the birthplace of Confucius. I also visited the Nanjing Memorial that recognizes the more than 300000 people who were killed in 1937 by Japan at the beginning of World War II. My visit there was quite moving.
Jinan is continuing to grow as a transportation hub. One can take the fast train and be in Beijing in less than 1 1/2 hours. That is a distance of 250 miles. It has been suggested that soon people will live in Jinan and work in Beijing because the cost of housing in Jinan is about a third of the cost of Beijing.
